Sophia BienkoSophia is a senior this 2022-2023 school year and is so thrilled and grateful to be rounding out her high school career as Co-President of the Glenbrook South UNICEF Club. Since sophomore year, Sophia has been actively involved in UNICEF Club and served as President Shadow during the 2021-2022 school year. Serving UNICEF’s worldwide mission as well as localizing it in Glenview is something Sophia feels passionate about, and she intends to embrace every opportunity this year to aid UNICEF's purpose. In addition to UNICEF, Sophia is a second year Design Editor for GBS’s award-winning yearbook, where she works closely with Adobe software to bring to life the visual aesthetic of the publication. After school, you can most likely find Sophia in the GBS choir department, or rehearsing for some type of performance in the auditorium— for the third year, Sophia is overjoyed to be a member of the GBS Variety Show’s Singer Dancers! Outside of school, Sophia sings as a cantor at her church, and is passionate about physical health and nutrition. As a part of UNICEF Club, Sophia hopes to enhance her leadership abilities and contribute to the organization’s success!

Sydney Kim
Sydney is a senior serving as UNICEF co-president alongside Sophia this year. She has been a part of the club for 3 years now, and served as Advocacy Chair Shadow last year. Sydney is passionate about enabling UNICEF’s mission for children of all communities, whether they be located in the North Shore or around the world. Besides UNICEF, she is involved in Meraki, Yearbook, Calliope, etc. She is beyond excited to see where the club will go this coming year :)
Shae Hussey
Shae has been a part of the GBS UNICEF board on publicity chair since she was a junior. As Shae's last year of high school is approaching, she is eager to see how UNICEF will improve and grow as a club. She has been actively a part of the club since freshman year and looks forward to seeing new faces for the upcoming school year! She is excited to advocate for children’s rights while being on board this year. Shae works two jobs, one at Country Classics working retail, and the other working at Highland Park hospital as an SST in the department of labor and delivery. In her free time, outside of work, she loves to be around family and friends, listen to music, and indulge herself in the show Grey’s Anatomy. Shae is beyond excited to head into her senior year by making an impact on children’s lives while meeting new people and working with old friends!
Katie AllenKatie is a junior at GBS and is one of the Advocacy Chair’s at GBS UNICEF for the 2022-2023 school year. She has been actively involved in the club since her sophomore year, and is very happy to be returning as a board member! She joined the club in the hope to help contribute to UNICEF’s many important causes, and is excited to step up her involvement this year. Outside of UNICEF, Katie is a Senior Messages editor for the yearbook, and is involved in Journalism Club, CEC Club, and GBS Field Hockey! In her free time, she enjoys reading, going on walks with her family, listening to music, and spending time with her friends. Katie is very excited to see the path the club takes this year, as well as using her role to help bring more awareness to South students of issues going on in the world, as well as what they can do to help.

Sarina HarjaniSarina is a sophomore at GBS and is very excited to be joining the UNICEF board this year as one of the advocacy chairs. She has been actively involved in UNICEF since her freshman year and originally joined to help make a difference in the community. In addition to UNICEF, Sarina is a member of a variety of clubs including Debate, Model UN, Mock Trial, Key Club, and Women in Business. She also enjoys being a part of both the GBS tennis and track team. In her free time, she loves to hang out with her friends and family, as well as watch new TV shows. Sarina can’t wait for her first year as a UNICEF board member, and she hopes to help people across the globe!

Olivia WillitsOlivia is a senior at Glenbrook South and is very grateful to be on the UNICEF board this year on the fundraising chair. She has been an actively involved member of UNICEF since the beginning of sophomore year, joining because the motivation and successes of this club really stood out to her. Besides UNICEF, Olivia is a part of Water1st, Yearbook staff, Volleyball, and Track & Field. Outside of school she babysits, co-coaches a volleyball clinic, and works at the park district on the weekends. In her free time she enjoys going for car rides, sitting at the beach, and sitting outside listening to music. Over the summer she participated in Habitat for Humanity, and had a very good time cleaning out homes, building walls, and meeting homeowners and peoples whose lives have been impacted by Habitat for Humanity. Olivia cannot wait to see how many lives UNICEF changes, and is also very excited to see this club grow and become a tighter community.

Ceci LukasCeci is a senior at GBS and serves as the Fundraising Chair. She has been a member of the GBS UNICEF club since her Freshman year and is super excited to be on the board for another year. She is extremely passionate about UNICEF’s mission and making a change in the world. Ceci hopes to educate herself further on issues around the world and raise the money for communities in need. At GBS, she takes part in a variety of clubs including Mock Trial, Women in Business, and Interact. She also tutors in the TLC and is a peer group leader. Outside of school, she volunteers at the Field Museum, volunteers at the Glenview Public Library, and spends time with her dog. Overall, Ceci is thrilled to be on the GBS UNICEF board and can not wait to grow the club even further!

Rachel KoopersmithRachel is a senior at South and is beyond excited to be the Community Outreach Chair for GBS UNICEF. Instantly in love with the club and its mission, Rachel has been an active member in the club since her freshman year and this will be her second year on board. At South, Rachel participates in sports such as Field Hockey and is a PE Leader. Additionally, she is a third year columnist for The Oracle and is in clubs such as Mock Trial, Women in Business, and is the Vice President for Operation Smile. Outside of school, you can find her working with younger children, listening to music, and hanging out with her friends. Rachel cannot wait to see all of the wonderful things UNICEF accomplishes this year and is thrilled to be a part of it.

Tali is a Junior and is beyond excited to join the Unicef board this year as the secretary. She began her involvement in the Unicef program her sophomore year with projects such as the Care Package Fundraiser for the Sister Pauline’s Needy Family Fund and more! In addition to Unicef, Tali is the video editor for the Stitched fashion magazine and has served as Vice President for the class of 2024 for three years. Tali can’t wait to help the Unicef community grow at Glenbrook South and is always happy to help with any questions regarding Unicef or any GBS events.
